Christian Initiative For Nation Building to commemorate the occasion, organized an Online Webinar themed Basic Health Care Provision Fund: Leaving no one Behind on May 25, 2022.
At the end of the conversation, the keynote address, panelists and contributors:
First, thank the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for signing the NHIA Act into law.
Encouraged the NHIA to liaise with the various states’ health insurance schemes to work in symbiotic relationship in order to scale up quality health delivery to the vulnerable.
Reiterates that government at all levels must be aware that NHIA funding is an additional funding window and must not replace the statutory funding required to revamp our health care in Nigeria.
The federal and state governments should harmonize any conflicting legislations in the interest of vulnerable Nigerians who are the beneficiaries.
The NHIA should endeavour to conscientize the host communities on the need to own the various government intervention at the primary health care unit.
Data gathering must be robust and targeted at the community to help boast the supply and demand sides which in turn would guarantee the integrity of health sector data.
Encourage the NHIA to explore innovative ways such as investing in residual funds, private sector support among others to bridge the funding gap in the health sector.
Finally, we call on governments at all levels; institutions and businesses to put lives before personal interests and profits.
