To commemorate African Liberation Mobilization Day 2021, CINB organized an Online Interactive Webinar on 25th May, 2021. Webinar was themed : Organizing for Social Justice. Panelists included: Legislators, Government representatives, Legal luminaries, Entrepreneurs and Human rights activists. Panelists made the following assertions:
- Citizens must be proactive in demanding Accountability from Government.
- Citizens must pay close attention to issues of good governance so that Government officials can be on their toes as there is no Office as powerful as the Office of the Citizen.
- There must be proper separation of power of power to stop crises in Judicial sector
- The Webinar also noted near collapse of Nigeria’s Constitutional Democracy in the present circumstances of the incapacitation and shut down of arms of Government- Judiciary and legislature and its implication to the realization of social justice. The Executive demonstrates manifest indifference most times. A Military regime is almost more Democratic as unacceptable as it is than the present charade. The Economy and security of State is out of control of the minders of our Government, and where these are not in place, the social contract has been fundamentally breached.
